The paradox of loving to eavesdrop but being unable to talk to strangers - that's painfully relatable. 'A strip of sandpaper would be smoother than me' - I'm stealing this. Beautiful airport anthropology.
Team Chester here. Your right about Chester being irreplaceable. The correct move would have been to fold the group imo. Shinoda has enough range that there's no need to cling to former glory. If they wanted a female singer that could hang they should have stolen Tatiana Shmayluk from Jinjer. That being said the correct way to rescue the girl would be to report the guy as suspicious to airport authorities, surely after you explained his 'favorite' song choices to them they would have no problem holding him for the night.
Eavesdropping is such a fun and rewarding experience 😁. But not knowing how certain stories end, really bugs me. Take this airport couple - would love to know when she got rid of him, because she would have for sure. Not because of his LP opinions, but the hat. He wore it backwards. Trying too hard imo, and she would have noted that. See… I am too invested in their story already 😩
Hahaha, yeah, the backwards hat at 3AM was a little jarring. (Though, tbh, I've done it myself at times.)
I fully agree. I'm very interested in knowing if they managed to go on a date at a more reasonable time, and place. We have to imagine what we cannot know!
Oh man! Hilarious as always Rohan!! But also I agree with you about actively engaging with strangers. If its an uncle or aunty I steer CLEAR. All caps very necessary 😂. Like Sarthak said, showering you with all the flowers! You, mister, are a master of words!
Engaging read, Rohan. I used to be the one with my nose in a book or two ( after all one needs a semblance of option even mid-air). Now, maybe it’s to do with age (mine) or a rare presence of interesting co-passengers, I have had some scintillating conversations. Though they mostly end with the said flight and for that I’m glad.
Yeah, I see the logic of making the effort to engage. Probability dictates that some co-passengers will turn out to be interesting people once a conversation kicks off. But at what cost?
I'm clearing my reading backlog and I'm so happy I started with this. I didn't like the new lead singer of Linkin Park too and I haven't even listened to the new tracks but I kinda agree with you here that the new tracks with no connection to Chester are all theirs! And if you like them, you like them. And I gasped at you lending you book! You're so courageous Rohan! Had I found out the person didn't even open the book, I would've banned that person from even asking the question of taking my book.
Better question on the LP listening list is, which version?
What now?
When you have been reanimated more times than The Undertaker, there are bound to be a few versions.

Thanks a lot, Sid! Steal away, please. :D

Hahaha, yeah I'm sure they'd have been equally outraged.
Also, I will now check out Jinjer, thank you.

I chuckled ALL the way through this.. now that I have spent some time with reticent you!
Hehe, thank you thank you! :D

Thanks so much, Reshma! Always grateful for your kindness.
Steeting clear is sound strategy. :D
a fellow eavesdropper! I should have known. Super!!!
Hehe.. Thank you! :D
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this!
Thanks a lot, Namrata!
Hilarious... "usher out at their celibate best" 🤣🤣
Thanks, Ravi! :D Glad you enjoyed it. :D
Honestly, I never understand why people can't wait for aeroplane doors to open and need to rush.
It is so annoying and pointless. Terrible habit.

All in a funny read throughout :)
